Killed in Afghanistan. Died on February 5, 2003.

Army Staff Sgt. Craig W. Cherry, 39, of Winchester, Virginia.

Cherry died in Ghazikel, Afghanistan, when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 29th Infantry Division (Light Infantry), Winchester, Virginia. Died on August 7, 2004.

Army CWO Travis W. Grogan, 31, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Grogan died in Bamian, Afghanistan, when his contract aircraft crashed. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Died on November 27, 2004.

Army Staff Sgt. Robert K. McGee, 38, of Martinsville, Virginia.

McGee died in Manila, Republic of the Philippines, of non-combat related injuries. McGee was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on June 30, 2004.

Army Pfc. Pendelton L. Sykes II, 25, of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Sykes died in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when the CH-47 helicopter he was on crashed. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, 12th Aviation Brigade, Giebelstadt, Germany. Died on April 6, 2005.

Army Capt. James F. Adamouski, 29, of Springfield, Virginia.

Killed when his UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed in central Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. Died on April 2, 2003.

Army Spc. Clarence Adams III, 28, of Richmond, Virginia.

Adams died of injuries sustained on September 6, 2004 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his HMMWV hit an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 91st Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on September 7, 2004.

Marine Cpl. Bradley T. Arms, 20, of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Arms died as result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserve's 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Baltimore, Maryland. Died on November 19, 2004.

Navy Chief Joel Egan Baldwin, 37, of Arlington, Virginia.

Baldwin died in Mosul, Iraq, when a suicide bomber entered his dining facility and detonated an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 77, Gulfport, Mississippi. Died on December 21, 2004.

Army Command Sgt. Maj. James D. Blankenbecler, 40, of Alexandria, Virginia.

Blankenbecler was in a convoy that was hit by an improvised explosive device and rocket propelled grenades in Samarra, Iraq. Blankenbecler died of his injuries. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on October 1, 2003.

Marine Cpl. Jonathan W. Bowling, 23, of Patrick, Virginia.

Bowling died of wounds received as result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserve's 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia. Died on January 26, 2005.

Marine Lance Cpl. Demarkus D. Brown, 22, of Martinsville, Virginia.

Brown died as result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on November 19, 2004.

Army Sgt. Jack Bryant, Jr., 23, of Dale City, Virginia.

Bryant died in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military convoy followed by an enemy rocket-propelled grenade attack. He was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Fire Support Team (1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division), Vilseck, Germany. Died on November 20, 2004.

Marine Pfc. Michael M. Carey, 20, of Prince George, Virginia.

Carey apparently fell into a canal in Iraq and did not resurface. His remains were recovered on May 18. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on May 18, 2004.

Army 2nd Lt. Leonard M. Cowherd, 22, of Culpeper, Virginia.

Cowherd died in Karbala, Iraq, when he received sniper and rocket propelled grenade fire while securing a building near the Mukhayam Mosque. He was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany. Died on May 16, 2004.

Army Pvt. Jason L. Deibler, 20, of Hampton, Virginia.

Killed by a non-combat weapon discharge in Kuwait. Deibler was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, based at Smith Barracks, Baumholder, Germany. Died on May 4, 2003.

Marine Lance Cpl. Tenzin Dengkhim, 19, of Falls Church, Virginia.

Dengkhim died as a result of hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on April 2, 2005.

Army Spc. Jeremy M. Dimaranan, 29, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Dimaranan died in Balad, Iraq, during a mortar attack when mortar rounds hit his camp. He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 302nd Transportation Company, 172nd Combat Support Group, Fort Eustis, Virginia. Died on June 16, 2004.

Army Staff Sgt. Micheal E. Dooley, 23, of Pulaski, Virginia.

Dooley was manning a traffic control point in Al Asad, Iraq when a vehicle came up to the checkpoint and two individuals got out requesting a medic for their sick friend. Immediately following the request for help, they opened fire on Dooley which resulted in his death. Dooley was assigned to 1st Squadron, B Troop, 4th Platoon, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado. Died on June 8, 2003.

Marine Capt. James C. Edge, 31, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Edge was killed by enemy small-arms fire while conducting combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. During Operation Iraq Freedom, Edge was attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). Died on April 14, 2005.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael J. Gray, 32, of Richmond, Virginia.

Gray died in an automobile accident in Kuwait. Gray was traveling to Kuwait Navy Base when his vehicle was struck from the rear by a civilian vehicle. He was assigned to Navy Detachment Kuwait Navy Base. Died on March 5, 2004.

Marine Staff Sgt. John R. Howard, 26, of Covington, Virginia.

Howard died in a helicopter crash in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 166 (Reinforced), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California. Died on August 11, 2004.

Marine Lance Cpl. Tavon L. Hubbard, 24, of Reston, Virginia.

Hubbard died in a helicopter crash in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to the Command Element, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on August 11, 2004.

Army 1st Lt. Joshua C. Hurley, 24, of Clifton Forge, Virginia.

Hurley was riding in a HMMWV when he was hit with an improvised explosive device in Mosul, Iraq. Hurley was assigned to the 326th Engineer Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on November 1, 2003.

Army Pfc. Leslie D. Jackson, 18, of Richmond, Virginia.

Jackson died in Baghdad, Iraq when her military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device as she was returning to Camp Eagle. She was assigned to A Company, 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on May 20, 2004.

Army 1st Lt. Jeffrey J. Kaylor, 24, of Clifton, Virginia.

Killed in Iraq. He was assigned to C Battery, 39th Field Artillery Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on April 7, 2003.

Army Capt. Humayun S. M. Khan, 27, of Bristow, Virginia.

Khan died in Baquabah, Iraq, after a vehicle packed with an improvised explosive device drove into the gate of his compound while he was inspecting soldiers on guard duty. He was assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 201st Forward Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany. Died on June 8, 2004.

Marine Sgt. Michael V. Lalush, 23, of Troutville, Virginia.

Killed in a UH-1N Huey helicopter crash in southern Iraq. He was assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA)-169, Marine Aircraft Group-39, Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on March 30, 2003.

Marine Cpl. Binh N. Le, 20, of Alexandria, Virginia.

Le died from injuries received as result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 5th Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on December 3, 2004.

Army Pfc. Lee A. Lewis, Jr., 28, of Norfolk, Virginia.

Lewis died in Sadr City, Iraq, when his patrol was attacked by enemy small arms fire. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on March 18, 2005.

Marine Lance Cpl. Karl R. Linn, 20, of Chesterfield, Virginia.

Linn died of wounds received as result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserve's 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia. Died on January 26, 2005.

Mason died in Mosul, Iraq, when a suicide bomber entered his dining facility and detonated an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 276th Engineer Battalion, West Point, Virginia. Died on December 21, 2004.

Marine Staff Sgt. Donald C. May, 31, of Richmond, Virginia.

Killed during convoy operations when his tank plunged off a cliff into the Euphrates River. He was assigned to the 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California. Died on March 25, 2003.

Marine Lance Cpl. Brian A. Medina, 20, of Woodbridge, Virginia.

Medina died as result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Died on November 12, 2004.

Marine Sgt. Krisna Nachampassak, 27, of Burke, Virginia.

Nachampassak died due a non-combat related vehicle accident in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on July 10, 2004.

Army Staff Sgt. Nathaniel J. Nyren, 31, of Reston, Virginia.

Nyren died in Baghdad, Iraq when a civilian vehicle struck his military vehicle. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on December 28, 2004.

Army Sgt. Maj. Robert D. O'Dell, 38, of Manassas, Virginia.

O'Dell died in Mosul, Iraq, when a suicide bomber entered his dining facility and detonated an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the United States Army Intelligence & Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Died on December 21, 2004.

Marine Lance Cpl. David Edward Owens, Jr., 20, of Winchester, Virginia.

Died of wounds received in action on April 12 in central Iraq. Owens was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on April 14, 2003.

Marine Sgt. Jayton D. Patterson, 26, of Sedley, Virginia.

Patterson died as result of hostile action in Babil Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on January 15, 2005.

Marine Gunnery Sgt. Javier Obleas-Prado Pena, 36, of Falls Church, Virginia.

Pena died at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, from injuries received November 25, 2004, as result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on December 1, 2004.

Army Staff Sgt. Gregory V. Pennington, 36, of Glade Spring, Virginia.

Pennington died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his camp came under mortar attack. He was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on June 21, 2004.

Army 1st Lt. Timothy E. Price, 25, of Midlothian, Virginia.

Price died when he came under attack by enemy forces using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 127th Military Police Company, 709th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, V Corps, Hanau, Germany. Died on September 7, 2004.

Marine Lance Cpl. Jason C. Redifer, 19, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia.

Redifer died as a result of hostile action in Babil Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on January 31, 2005.

Army Spc. Frank K. Rivers, Jr., 23, of Woodbridge, Virginia.

Rivers died in Mosul, Iraq when he collapsed during physical training. He was assigned to the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on April 14, 2004.

Army Spc. David A. Ruhren, 20, of Stafford, Virginia.

Ruhren died in Mosul, Iraq, when a suicide bomber entered his dining facility and detonated an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 276th Engineer Battalion, West Point, Virginia. Died on December 21, 2004.

Marine Lance Cpl. Darrell J. Schumann, 25, of Hampton, Virginia.

Schumann died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Died on January 26, 2005.

Army Staff Sgt. Kristopher L. Shepherd, 26, of Lynchburg, Virginia.

Shepherd died in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated during clearing operations. He was assigned to the 767th Ordnance Company, 63rd Ordnance Battalion, 52nd Ordnance Group, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C. Died on February 11, 2005.

Army Capt. Mark N. Stubenhofer, 30, of Springfield, Virginia.

Stubenhofer died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his unit was conducting dismounted operations and was attacked by small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Died on December 7, 2004.

Army CW5 Sharon T. Swartworth, 43, of Virginia.

Swartworth died when the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter she was in was shot down by unknown enemy ordnance in Tikrit, Iraq. Swartworth was the regimental warrant officer for the Judge Advocate General Office, based at Headquarters Department of the Army, Pentagon. Died on November 7, 2003.

Army Capt. John R. Teal, 31, of Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Teal died of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device exploded while in a convoy in Baqubah, Iraq. He was assigned to 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on October 23, 2003.

Army Sgt. Tromaine K. Toy, Sr., 24, of Eastville, Virginia.

Tromaine died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, while conducting combat operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Hovey, Korea. Died on April 16, 2005.

Army Pfc. Andrew L. Tuazon, 21, of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Tuazon died in Mosul, Iraq, from hostile fire while on guard duty. He was assigned to the 293rd Military Police Company, 3rd Military Police Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on May 10, 2004.

Air Force Maj. William R. Watkins III, 37, of Danville, Virginia.

Killed in action while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Watkins was assigned to the 333rd Fighter Squadron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. Died on April 7, 2003.

Marine Cpl. Christopher L. Weaver, 24, of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Weaver died of wounds received as a result of hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserve's 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia. Died on January 26, 2005.

Marine 1st Lt. Alexander E. Wetherbee, 27, of Fairfax, Virginia.
